 Selecting a shopping cart

One key requirement for using Global Iris for eCommerce is that transactions must be processed using the 3D Secure (Verified by Visa / MasterCard SecureCode) service. Make sure you select a shopping cart that offers this functionality. All 'Redirect' integrations have 3D Secure enabled by default.

Here are some additional factors to consider in selecting a shopping cart to use:

  • Technical - does the shopping cart work with your preferred operating system, programming language, or database?
  • Features - does the shopping cart provide the features you need, such as product categorisation, search, customer registration, loyalty or gift certificates, etc?
  • Shipping - does the shopping cart give you the shipping options you need?
  • Support - is there an online community or forum, do they offer phone or email support?
  • Reporting - can the shopping cart provide you with the reports you need?
  • Cost - how much does the cart cost? How much do plugins cost? How much does support cost? And how much will it cost to develop the system to meet your needs?
  • Payment - does the cart integrate with Global Iris/Realex Payments? Does it support the remote or redirect integration with 3DSecure?

Setting up your shopping cart

Before you can take payments through your website, you will need to have a Card Processing Agreement with Global Payments.

As Global Iris is powered by Realex Payments, for most shopping cart integrations you will need to select Realex as the payment service provider. This may be a drop down option (select 'Realex') or for others there may be a plugin to download and install to get the shopping cart to work with Realex.
